Funston 4.26.10

The day started out by meeting Mike "Guitar Pilot" Owens at Ed Levin for what was supposed to be some pre-frontal goodness...the Weather Goddess had other plans with NNW winds that stubbornly would not relent. The prediction of SSW soarable winds did not happen this day. That was all good, though, in that a group of H2's got to have fun flights off the top.

One of those H2's was new H3 Mike Owens...

Later on in the LZ parking lot, we were reminded of other little critters that roam the grounds...

Mike almost stepped out of this truck on this 3 foot rattler...which means the little guy was not too far away when he stepped into his truck, as well...

The rattler scurried away into a batten bag that was laid out for him to crawl into, then relocated to the LZ where he now resides...So, now when we land in the LZ, we can always expect to run into him again.

After all that fun, I headed to Funston...

The conditions were nice and soarable with a couple dozen pilots in the air by the time I arrived. I quickly set up the Sport 2 and was in the air in no time. The Sport 2 is a lot of fun and a good practice glider for flying close to the ridge at high speeds. I headed over to Westlake and played there for a while, then headed back. It was a good day in the air at the Fort
