Headed out to Ed Levin this morning to observe Matt off the 300 and Mary (who bought my old truck) off the 1750 launch. My session with Matt was interrupted by 3 stubborn horses who would not let my truck out of the vehicle access gate. Two of the three liked the salt that had settled on the paint job from Funston, so they began licking the hood and side windows. At first it was entertaining, but after 45 minutes, I was growing tired of the delay. Finally, we were able to lure the 3 brainless beasts (my apologies to my horse owning friends) away from my truck such that I could get it pass the gate. I was finished with driving up to the 300 after that and offered to launch Mary off the top launch...she did great and it was nice to see her get her 7th flight. She is going to be a force to reckon with in the air someday...good on her.
Arrived late at Funston and missed the high ceiling...was able to get in a 10 minute or so flight before the ceiling dropped below ridge height. It felt like that scene from the first Star Wars where they are trapped in the pit with the moving walls coming in toward them...the ceiling lifted about 50-feet for a brief moment such to get in a top landing, then that was it for the day...on to the Boulevard for a beer with Brother Brian...tomorrow Funston is looking better.
