There is an element to my flying lately that I've become more conscious of, and that is a heightened awareness while in the air. What I'm getting at is all the things we talk about on the ground, and read about, are becoming more and more engrained. I guess I'm actually applying thought to every scenario that presents itself while hang-gliding. This doesn't always result in better flights, but I am noticing a lot more satisfaction with the sport of hang-gliding now more than in the past.
I think to be truly good at something, you need to immerse yourself in it to the point of obsession. The motorcycle is gone...I'm no longer pretending to be a rock star playing guitar, or wanting to play guitar, in dive bars. I've found something so consuming, yet so enjoyable at the same time. Part of this satisfaction and enjoyment is due to the balance I now have with hang-gliding, exercise, and knowing I'm a pilot...always wanted to be one of those.
