Labor Day weekend was my first as monitor at Yosemite. Wendy and I headed out of the Bay Area by noon on Friday and made it to our rented condo at Yosemite West by about 5pm or so...
Luc Mailloux, a Canadian pilot getting ready to launch at Glacier Point...
Talking to Luc at launch...
I then flew after Luc. This was my first time solo launching at Glacier Point as monitor...
The walk out to launch...
Enjoying the view...
You can't just call it a sledder...
Luc had a great flight that day (Saturday). Afterward in the Leidig Meadow LZ, he said he'd always dreamed of flying Yosemite...It was cool to help him live that dream...
Afterward, Wendy and I went for a hike along the Ostrander Lake trail...I took pictures of dead trees...
...and Wendy...
Sunday, since no one was signed up to fly, I was going to fly solo. But the winds were kicking up a bit at launch, so I opted not to fly that day...
Monday was a different story...
Setting up my approach...
Leidig Meadow LZ...
On the way home, I saw a familiar sight and had to take a picture...the only place in northern California where you can get your transmission rebuilt and get a downtube for your glider all in the same visit...
Tomorrow I turn 43...
Until next year Yosemite!
