Labor Day Weekend Flying

A bunch of pilots drove the Bridgeport over Labor Day weekend for some great flying...

JT and I loaded up the School Bus Friday, and were on the road by 1pm getting a little start on weekend travelers.

We made a quick stop in Sonora along the way for pizza, then continued on toward Bridgeport...once we arrived, we hooked up with Trey & Steve at a camping area off Buckeye Canyon Road.

The scenery around Bridgeport is incredible...

After topping off the tank at $5.19 / gallon, we met up with others...

Saturday, we flew Sweetwater. Quite a few pilots made it to Bridgeport while others flew further elsewhere. I had a low save right off of launch that brought me up to 12,000', then it was on toward Bridgeport, chasing Ben Dunn & trading thermals with Wayne and Mike O'Leary along the way. I was reading 2000 fpm climbs on the vario this flight, also. Beer and BBQ afterward at Pam's Place, then camping in a great spot with everyone and lots of...um...great stories at the campfire!

Sunday, we flew Wolf. JT had a personal best flight and flew the snot out of his new T2C, almost making it to Bridgeport. Others did what we could and ended up at the Marine base LZ down below...fun flying nonetheless. Eric F. and KM made it just south of Topaz Lake. I think Scot flew to Minnesota or something like that. Again, I was showing 2000' fpm climbs while others were showing 2000' fpm sink at times from what I heard.

Lots of fun flying...added two new sites to the list and will make flying this area part of the usual mix. Big thanks to Pam for opening up her home to all of us and making us feel really welcome.
