Man, the ACP's were out in full force Sunday soaking in the nice conditions that slowly built throughout the day...
ACP's Ryan, Brian, Dirk, John "JT", and I rolled in around 10:30 to the LZ parking lot sporting some cool shades and attitude, loaded up our gear and headed up to the top. Apparently, the valet parking service was taking a smoke break or something, so we had to park our own vehicles...I had to crack the windows on the drive up to allow for the egos to get a little extra elbow room...all was good.
We set up our birds as Carm and Roy rolled up to launch...Roy is sporting a new U2 (all white) and was looking good...totally slaying...Carm was full of hugs and good vibe...all was good.
Roy launched first and was doing well...I then launched and could feel a little texture to the air with some of the thermals having a bit of a drift, but there seemed plenty of thermal activity to work. Everyone else was soon in the air with the two PG's that had launched earlier.
ACP Brian headed on down to the last tower toward Ed Levin with Dirk, then headed back as he decided to land by his beer rather than go to Casa de Fruita...we can always make that milk run some other day. I was getting stinking high as always, dominating the air as usual.
ACP Ryan decided to head south, too, diving into the leeside rotor of the last ridge to Casa de Ed Levin. He smoked that Kleenex-sponsored Moyes in for a no-stepper (as always). JT and I picked him up later and congratulated him on his awesome XC flight. We finally were able to leave after we ran out of autographed 8 x 10 glossies.
Afterward, we all went to The Commercial Mexican Food Place on Calaveras Blvd in Milpitas...Darya, our server was impressed as always...Drinks were on the house once the bartender knew who we were...
