The Fremont Inn
Wendy and I arrived Lakeview yesterday around 2:30PM...we checked into the Fremont Inn and settled in for a week of driving, flying, and site seeing when time allows. The pilot meeting Saturday evening was held at Hunter's Hot Springs Resort. Hunter's is will also be the meet headquarters, as well. The accommodations are OK for camping and all that, but we are very happy with what we've got at the Fremont Inn...money well spent.
Yesterday was really hot with winds from the north...today is expected to be a bit cooler with winds switching more from the southwest...this is good news for those flying in the meet.
The launch start was 2:15 and you had to be on your way by 3:00...Ben Dunn was a great help with my Garmin, and to be perfectly honest, that was the big accomplishment for today...I launched in the latter half after watching the first half of pilots speck out. They had no problem crossing Fandango Pass and heading north. I got above launch for about 1/2 my flight but could not find a thermal that allowed me the comfort level to keep heading back behind the rim. As the title in the blog says, "Babblings from the Bailout LZ and Beyond..." Well, today I report my flight from the bailout LZ...26 minutes of greatness, but there are 6 more days and I'm having fun...
