Overall, 2013 was a great year of flying.
My goal for 2013 was to break my career 600 hour mark. I made it to 598 hours, 42 minutes...not bad!
I'm someone who still flies with a variometer, and I keep track of every minute of airtime - since my first lesson July 3rd, 2004...these are real hours - not Funston hours.
In 2013, I had 129 flights with 63 hours, 51 minutes of flight time...yahoo!
So, for 2014 I'm setting a goal of 700 career flying hours, and hanging out with my flying buddies.
I brought in the end of the year at Waddell with a little over an hour of airtime in sometimes buoyant, sometimes not so buoyant flying conditions with Ryan, Craig, and Santa Cruz Doug.
This was a great way to end 2013 - a high note - it's been a great year.
2014 was brought in with the Flying Canuck at Windy Hill...
A short 5 minute flight, but flying nonetheless.
Last, but not least, a farewell to my good friend - Jean "Jeano" Harty.
Jeano lost her battle with cancer November 21st, 2013...she was (is) a dear friend from high school who I always made a point to visit whenever I was in Minnesota.
Jeano and I graduated in 1984...she is one of 6 people I continued to stay in touch with from that era.
There was no such thing as one drink with Jeano...it was always a marathon finish to closing time with our jaws aching from laughter.
I'll always love Jeano for her zest and spirit for life - she was taken from us way too soon.
See you at the hill!
Bang!
