Golden Eagle at Ed Levin 3.13.12

Got my Golden Eagle at Ed Levin this past Monday...It required extending my weekend by one day, but I got the job done.

Flew to Mission Ridge and back, then on toward Hwy 680, then south toward Calaveras Blvd and a lot of flying in between. Although there was a fair amount of lift pretty much everywhere, the day was not a gimme. You still had to work at staying up by working the terrain and figuring out, at times, the frustrating mix of ridge soaring, thermals, and what felt like shear further out away from the hillside. But, then again, maybe it was just cloudsuck. Regardless, the day was a nice mix of white knuckle side-wire twangs and smoothness that tested one's ability.

And, yes, I dropped the most amazing fingerbang while landing...the crowd was amazed. I ran out of ink in my pen signing all the autographs!
